Superhero Spotlight: Productivity Protector

By

Superhero Spotlight: Productivity ProtectorThis week we are kicking off our series introducing our #AwesomeAdmin Superheroes and their journey through Trailhead. With Trailhead, Salesforce Admins can learn how to build cloud apps for free with fun, interactive tutorials. In the coming weeks we will introduce you to each Superhero and how they blazed their own trail, followed learning paths at their own pace, and became our #AwesomeAdmin Superheros with Trailhead. This week we are getting started with an overview of Trailhead as our heroes prepare to take the challenges. Of course you should follow our heroes and build your own trail, so let’s get started!

Background

Born in Kentucky, where Manufacturing is king, Taylor Winslow Frederick was 1 of 7 children. His parents worked in a manufacturing plant where they assembled automobiles one nut at-a-time. So encompassed by the ‘one at-a-time’ mantra his mother would cook meals one ingredient at-a-time, and serve one child at-a-time. His father would cut the grass using scissors cutting it one blade at-a-time. This lead to great inefficiencies in the Fredrick household.

Determined to do things better, young Taylor taught himself to write with both hands by age 8. This meant he could finish his math and science homework at the same time. In high school it was common to see a teenage Taylor practicing the saxophone while running cross country.

College continued the multi-tasking theme as Taylor double majored in Industrial and organizational psychology as well as computer science. After graduation Taylor got a great job with a prominent company and was excited to get started. However, on his first day he saw that the company still used spreadsheets for data, kept customer information in rolodexes, and prepared for meetings by photocopying agendas. Frustrated, and with mobile phone in one hand, laptop in another he began to search for a solution.

A Productivity Protector emerged…

Taylor’s search results lead him to Salesforce. He was impressed. The speed at which he could built apps, deploy functionality, and report on data was exactly what he was looking for to help his company. Determined to bring this solution to his company he wanted to learn more. So he went to Trailhead.

Quickly he dove into the Getting Started with Force.com Trail, he loved the modules on Data modeling. Specifically created Object Relationships and Working with Schema Builder. This gave him insight into how he could help his company get off those spreadsheets! Next he completed the unit on Importing Data- now he had insight into how to map those spreadsheets to Salesforce. The units on Rollup Summary Fields, UI Customization, and creating list views was right up his alley- now he could give his users more information faster and all on one screen.

But he didn’t stop there! Taylor jumped to the Intro to Visual App Development Trail where he learned about Workflow Automation using workflow and flow. Excited by this solution he worked through additional units, he knew in the morning he would return not as Taylor Winslow Frederick, but as a symbol of productivity for his organization. A Productivity Protector!

Be Productive everywhere!

After deploying Salesforce to hundreds of companies, making thousands of workers super productive the Productivity Protector heard about a local Salesforce User Group. He knew he had to attend so he could teach more admins how to spread productivity in their companies.

When he showed up to the meeting he was surprised who he ran into…

To Be Continued… Next Week!

Follow our Superheroes & take the challenge!

Over the coming weeks you will have an opportunity to meet each of our #AwesomeAdmin Superheroes here on ButtonClickAdmin, learn about their back story, and see which modules in Trailhead they are going through. Each of them agree that Trailhead is a great way for Salesforce Admins to learn, test their knowledge, and show off their Salesforce Skills.

They are challenging every #AwesomeAdmin to complete modules on Trailhead and tweet out their badges using the hashtag #AwesomeAdmin
